Women’s Centre Greenhouse Project

The Women’s Centre Greenhouse Project is the first completed community initiative under Roots of Arnica, representing our commitment to enabling food solidarity, environmental education, and community-led growing spaces.

Thanks to the generosity of the Calgary Foundation and the Women’s Centre of Calgary, we successfully fundraised $1,000 to build the very first Roots of Arnica Mini Greenhouse. This greenhouse now supports the Women’s Centre’s long-standing garden group by extending their growing season and increasing access to fresh, home-grown produce.

The Women’s Centre Greenhouse Project has created:

  • A dedicated community greenhouse space
  • Greater access to locally grown, fresh produce
  • Opportunities for learning through gardening and preservation workshops
  • A strengthened partnership between Roots of Arnica and the Women’s Centre

This pilot project has become a model for future Roots of Arnica community greenhouses across Calgary.

The success of this initiative encourages further collaboration with neighborhood groups, community associations, and local organizations interested in developing accessible growing spaces. As we expand, our goal remains clear: to empower communities with knowledge, connection, and the tools to grow their own food with dignity.
